Evidence reflects that health-promotion efforts that focus on reducing weight are at best ineffective, and at worst actively harmful. Weight stigma is pervasive and demonstratively damaging to individuals and organizations, but it can be hard to spot due to its ingrained nature. This course will highlight how weight stigma infiltrates our systems and programs and how we can learn to recognize the harm it causes. We will discuss the tenants of a weight-inclusive approach to health and opportunities to rethink our roles in the respecting body diversity.
